Versions of You

Versions of You

A segment of the weekly newsletter is a weekly theme. The theme is an invitation and encouragement meant to help the reader better connect to themselves. Going forward, I’ll be sharing more about the theme in a blog post. Please note that the selected themes can be reflected upon at any time and are not limited to the week the themes are shared and published.

Theme: Versions of You.

There are so many different versions of You, from the You of yesterday to the You of today to the You of tomorrow. Who you are today is because of who you were yesterday. Who you are tomorrow is because of who you are today. Finally, who you are today is both a reflection of the past and a hope for the future. It seems like a lot at once, right? It is because there are beautiful nuances to who you are as a person and those nuances should be celebrated and honored. There is no one else exactly like you and that’s your magic.

Previous versions of you have set the foundation for who you currently are and this current version of you is laying the groundwork for who you will be in the future.

Practices for reflection

Each practice always begin with a question: Can you see the wholeness of who you are - past, present, and future, all at once - without judgement and worry? Meaning, can you look at those previous versions of you and look back with kindness and acceptance instead of judgment? Can you be with your present self and give yourself grace for doing the best you can with what you’ve got? Can you look to the future with trust and leave worry about the outcome at the door?

Take time to be with yourself. All your life experiences have brought you to this moment and have shaped you into the person you are today. Celebrate all that you are and leave room for curiosity as you grow into who you will become. One of my favorite sayings is, “We are human beings, not human done.” You are in a state of being; find joy in living a life of constant evolution.

Personal reflection

As for me, I am trying to honor the past, celebrate the present, and trust in the future. I am working on looking back with fondness as all my experiences have led me to this moment. Sometimes I went along kicking and screaming, but I am incredibly proud of who I am today. Don’t get me wrong, oftentimes I wonder what it is I am doing with this one precious life of mine, but I am working on trusting that the stage is being set for the next great version of me. I’m grateful for those previous versions of me, I am in love with this current version of me, and I can’t wait to meet the versions to come.
